Inspiration Runway: A Showcase of Australian Design Excellence

Designing a Space to Celebrate Local Craftsmanship

The design team wanted to create a space that not only showcased the furniture but also allowed visitors to envision how the pieces could be used within their own homes. To achieve this, they created a "mini" apartment within the exhibition space, complete with a dining area, living space, and an outdoor terrace filled with stunning pieces.

Creating this space presented its own set of challenges. With no walls or flooring, temporary walls had to be constructed to create the atmosphere of an apartment and to display wall coverings. Riggers were also employed to create a structure suitable for pendant lights, adding to the overall ambiance of the space.

The result was a visually striking and immersive experience for visitors. They were able to walk through the space, feel and touch the furniture, and truly "live" in the environment. The outdoor terrace, adorned with tropical plants, artificial grass, and a beautifully lit tree, provided a serene setting where visitors could relax and enjoy the Queensland lifestyle.

The Inspiration Runway was not only a part of the exhibition but also served as a backdrop for the awards ceremony itself. The finalists' pieces were displayed within the apartment, adding to the overall grandeur of the event.

Design & Co's dedication to showcasing Australian craftsmanship and design excellence earned them the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017. This prestigious award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
